ABSA Consumer Education Program
Purpose
The main objective of the project is to deliver financial education to the companies that fall under the Absa portfolio, schools, and people within the communities. Hand In Hand SA believes that implementing this programme will lead to a greater provision of financial literacy and freedom in our communities and will in turn impact the financial stability of future generations. The Absa Consumer Education Programme for the year 2022 covered two provinces namely, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
Implementation
Absa developed new Consumer Education material to be used for the year 2021-2022 and the material was translated into IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, Sesotho & Afrikaans according to Absa Language Services' policy. The delivery approach for the workshops is face-to-face training taking into consideration the Covid-19 regulations. The training was conducted in companies, university campuses, and at TVET colleges.
The overall project target for 2022 was 10 300 beneficiaries.
Achievements and Outcomes
During the course of 2022, 10300 beneficiaries were trained in financial education by the third quarter of the financial year and project targets have been met. The project has reached a total of 24355 beneficiaries since the start of its implementation with Hand in Hand SA.
